Must be a Nerd

So in the middle of May I went to a Comicon in Dallas with my boyfriend (Matt) and his parents. It was amazing but the post isn't about the Con but about what I got while I was there... a Nintendo Gameboy Color. I had been wanting one lately and Matt was set on getting it for me. After we got back from the Con he had found his Pokemon Yellow game and now I'm addicted. It is wonderful. I have caught numerous pokemon and received badges. I play it for several hours every day; allowing myself to get so distracted that I do not continue with daily chores. (I'm lucky I even get my work done) This game is old but it is probably one of the best games I have ever played. Just goes to show that the classics never die and I... MUST BE A NERD.

Faith in the Elderly Restored

So last night I was having a conversation with my elders. I feel elders is the best way to put it because there was a certain enlightened feeling that came with the conversation. The discussion was about politics. (Interesting I know...) It started when my mother brought up the scandal at Fort Sill.

For those who don't know the scandal is that the military base is caring for minors who have illegally immigrated to the United States. The governor is upset that the federal government is allowing these unaccompanied minors to stay in the country with free (at least for them) room and board.

Now I am not taking a side because the situation seems to be more complicated than they are letting on. My purpose in posting at all is more about the elderly than anything. Involved in the conversation were my grandfather, my grandmother and her parents. Just hearing their opinions was surprising. Their little faith in the government was not surprising but what was surprising was how understanding they were of the fact that with situations like this one there are a lot of ways one could feel and be totally justified in feeling as such. In conclusion, FAITH IN THE ELDERLY RESTORED!
